1) Thursday, Nov 30th, 7 - 10 PM - Fundraising Dinner with Olivia Chow
Together, we've been building a stronger grassroots organization than Etobicoke-Lakeshore has seen in decades. We're gearing up for next year's election and let's face it - that means fundraising. We've put together a great opportunity to join Olivia Chow for dinner and a conversation about the Orange Crush, and what we can do to recreate it right here in Etobicoke. This event is meant to not only allow her to share her wisdom but also to put us in a position financially to go toe-to-toe with the Liberals and Conservatives next year. Tickets are limited; click here for more info.
2) Thursday, Dec 7th, 7:30 to 9 PM - ELNDP Annual General Meeting
Alright, so it's not in November, but it's so exciting I couldn't wait. The AGM is our big meeting every year, and a chance for you to really have a say in the direction of the party. We'll be electing our executive committee for 2018; choosing delegates to vote on our behalf at the convention in Ottawa next year; discussing and passing resolutions to send to that convention and shape policy; and of course, hearing updates about our riding and getting input from you about what you'd like to see from us. And we're very pleased to announce that Federal NDP President and Davenport provincial candidate Marit Stiles will be joining us to share her remarks! You can check out the details on our Facebook event here.
3) Saturday, Nov 18th, 2 - 5 PM - Day of Action Transit Canvass
Join your local NDP team and our neighbours from Etobicoke Centre for a transit canvass! We'll meet outside the main pedestrian entrance at Kipling station then split off to cover Islington as well. RSVP here, and mark your attendance on Facebook here.
4) Sunday, Nov 5th, 1:30 PM - ONDP Election Training
Get ready for Election 2018 with ONDP election training! Whether you've never canvassed before or you're a vet looking to learn the latest, this afternoon of training sessions is for you! Held at the Courtyard Marriot (475 Yonge St). RSVP here.
5) Tuesday, Nov 7th, 6 - 8 PM - Coffee Discussion: How Jagmeet Won? What Is Next?
Join a friendly discussion featuring key activists from Jagmeet Singh's campaign to discuss their organizing success and to talk about how we as a movement engage our newest members and use the momentum from the leadership race locally. Hosted at Zav coffee shop (2048 Danforth Ave). Facebook listing here.
6) Sunday, Nov 12th, 10 AM - 3PM - Narrative and Canvassing training
This workshop, based on Olivia Chow's curriculum, trains progressives to integrate their stories into canvassing. Story-telling works, but it takes practice to use effectively. This training will show you how! Taking place at OPSEU 5110 (31 Wellesely St East). Click here to email an RSVP.
Thanks for your support and your hard work. Together, we are building a movement. I am so proud of the work we're doing and the roots we're building in our community, and we could not do it without you!
